How an AI receptionist handles an emergency call
The calls that matter most are the ones you can least afford to miss. Here is what happens when one comes in.
1. You decide what counts as an emergency
Before go-live we agree your emergency words and situations. For a plumber that might be "water coming through the ceiling" or "no heating" with a baby in the house. For an electrician, a burning smell or sparking. For a vet, anything involving poison, bleeding or breathing.
2. It listens for them on every call
The receptionist answers in your business name and asks what has happened. If the caller describes one of your emergencies, it treats the call as urgent from that moment.
3. It gives only the advice you approve
The receptionist never makes up safety advice. If you want callers told to turn off the stopcock, or not to touch a fuse board that smells of burning, we write that line with you, word for word. Everything else waits for you.
4. It reaches you straight away
Your on-call number gets an immediate text with the name, address, problem and callback number. It can ring you too, or transfer the caller to you directly if you prefer.
5. The caller knows what happens next
Nobody is left wondering. The receptionist tells the caller who will ring back and roughly when, then texts them the same details.
6. You get the full picture after
Every call ends with a summary sent to you. Emergencies are marked at the top, so nothing gets lost among routine bookings.
What it will not do
- It will not diagnose a fault or promise a fix.
- It will not give medical, legal or safety advice beyond the lines you have approved.
- It will not pretend to be a person if a caller asks.
